Five Minute Fridays: Beyond

I'm joining the Gypsy Mama for her Five Minute Friday Challenges. We write because we love words and the relief it is to just write them without worrying if they’re just right or not. No editing, no back peddling. We take five minutes on Friday and write like we used to run when we were kids. On Fridays we write like we believe we can fly. Won’t you join us? Today's subject: Beyond.

There was a time when I thought this season would never end. This waiting and watching. This place that felt like a cage. Caged up from the thing my heart finds most life giving. Yearning to move forward, to give birth to this thing in me I know is there. Uncomfortable, shifting to find where I could fit, I waited.

But beyond that uncomfortable-ness, was patience and temperance.

It grew me, grew me up well. That's something, and everything.

And now on the other side I look back. Is this what mother's feel like after giving birth?  Unable to remember the pain in light of the gift it brought? I think that must be it. That pain with a purpose seems so far away now, only remembered in the dull aching where it pressed me most.

This might just be the best news of the gospel. That not only is there always a beyond, but that He's faithful to bring us to it. Beyond the pain, beyond the hurts, beyond the labor, is an unexpected gift. Of perspective. Of learning to love the pressure of the mold, in all it's forms. And being released from it's grip, all new and shiny. Well...

..It feels just fine.
