Radiant Glow

Exodus 34:33ff "When Moses finished speaking to them he put a veil over his face. But whenever he entered the Lord's presence to speak to him, he removed the veil until he came out. And when he came out and told the Israelites what was commanded they saw that his face was radiant." In this age of plastic surgery it's very easy to seek out beauty as something that can be bought and that only appears on the outside. My mentor used to say "Some people are born pretty, but beauty is an equal opportunity characteristic." How true this is. Some people are born with features that are culturally accepted as pretty. But beautiful is a much deeper characteristic than what features our parents passed onto us. I believe that when we spend time with the Lord, we take a part of the divine spark away with us and people can see it. Moses came away radiant, glowing, after his time with the Lord. Some of the most beautiful women I know are not physically beautiful by earth's standards but there is just something so attractive, reassuring, inviting about them. When you spend time with the Lord, you come away changed. In high school there was this girl. She was pretty plain but everyone loved her. She was kind, energetic, passionate, empathetic, helpful. Just being around her picked you up. At the time I wasn't a believer, and I had no idea what was so attracting me to be her friend. Something about her was reassuring. It was only later that I figured out that she was a Christian. She spent time daily with the Lord, and because of that she brought Him wherever she went to people. That's what we're called to do. When we spend time with Him, we can take Him to others. So here's just another way to be beautiful. Forget the face lift. Get a God lift!
